The Bold Type's Sam Page has revealed that season four of the hit TV show was supposed to be longer.
Sam, 44, finished filming season five last month but as fans eagerly await the final instalment, they will be gutted to know that they missed out on some Scarlet action last year.
The Bold Type has had fans gripped for four seasons ever since the show began in 2017, and follows a trio of millennial women better known as Jane Sloan (Katie Stevens), Kat Edison (Aisha Dee), and Sutton Brady (Meghann Fahy).
The three best friends all live in New York City and work for Scarlet, a fictional global women's magazine.

The plot follows them as they navigate their lives in the big city, including their careers and romantic relationships.
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Sam spoke about filming of season four being cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"More episodes would have been great because we lost two episodes at the end of season four that just didn’t happen because of the Covid shut down," he revealed.

Sam's character Richard Hunter suffered heartbreak during season four after his girlfriend - now wife - Sutton suffered a miscarriage.
The episodes that followed showed both of them coming to terms with the tragedy and Sutton admitting that she was relieved, as she doesn't see kids in her future.
"What I was really sad about was that Meghan didn’t get to do those spiralling out of control episodes, to the point where she realised she needed a little bit of help" Sam continued.

"From what I understand, that was the plan to really give her a journey to go on and I think a lot of that was going to take place in those final two episodes.
"So I think Meghann lost an opportunity to do some really good work that would really have let her show how talented she is."
However, Sam was quick to praise Meghann for her performance regardless and added: "Meghann, without a whole lot of dialogue on the matter, she's such a talented actor, she was so good at conveying that in the quiet moments, really powerful."

It's unsure what the future holds for Richard and Sutton after they split towards the end of season four, but Sam teased there could be a reunion.
"If they don’t get back together, they don’t get each other which they want more than anything, and if they do get back together, one of them is not gonna get exactly what they want. It’s complicated in a very real world way," he said.
"But without giving anything away, I think viewers are gonna love the way this series wraps."
The Bold Type seasons 1-4 are available to stream on Netflix now, with season 5 premiering on Wednesday 26 May 26 at 10pm ET on Freeform.
