The Bodyguard star Richard Madden named one of 'Scotland’s Sexiest Men'

Richard Madden has been named one of Scotland's Sexiest Men this year, following a new study that identifies the most attractive features for men.

Madden, who plays Sergeant David Budd in BBC drama The Bodyguard, is a near-perfect match for the ideal male physical features - thanks to his dark hair, stature, facial hair and muscly build.

The study collates the physical features and relevant lifestyle attributes of historical Sexiest Man Alive lists to build the world’s ideal man - with the study finding that dark-haired and brooding Elderslie-born Madden is a near-perfect fit.

The data reveals that the ideal man has short tousled dark-brown hair and brown eyes, is exactly 6ft in height, has an athletic build and short brown facial hair.

The Scots hunk has curly dark brown hair, is just over 5ft 9” in height, is in great shape, and sports either a short brown beard or stubble - making him fit the bill to a T.

Madden is almost identical to the profile - aside from his blue eyes - and is proving increasingly popular with fans, after smash roles in Marvel’s Eternals and Game of Thrones.

The annual Sexiest Man Alive awards use reader votes to determine the hottest men across key categories, including sexiest smile, and are considered a benchmark of attractiveness.

The actors nominated tend to be very popular with fans and hold a prolific career - which Madden definitely does - meaning he’s a likely contender for taking home an award.

And that’s not all - the fact Madden sports facial hair is a major bonus for the Bodyguard star, as men with a beard were found to be a massive 62 per cent more attractive than those without.

The study looked at the most-often occurring physical features held by men awarded the prestigious accolade - including hair colour, hair length, eye colour, facial hair, tattoos, body build and height - as well as lifestyle attributes, such as marital status, job and birthdate.

Also in the running is Bathgate’s David Tennant - who does have brown eyes, but is older than the ideal age - and Glasgow’s James McAvoy, who is also held back by his baby blues.

Previous Scottish champs include Outlander hunk Sam Heughan, who won over 57 per cent of the vote, and it looks likely that numerous Scots could be in with a shot this time around.

Interestingly, men are more likely to win the award when they’re in a relationship or married, suggesting that female voters appear to find commitment attractive - and with both Madden, Tennant and McAvoy either married or in relationships, they’re all a good fit for the title.
