The new teaser for the 2026 season of The Block has arrived, and it promises at least two major twists for the next batch of Blockheads ahead of the premiere next month.
Our latest taste of the upcoming season, which marks The Block’s 22nd overall, was revealed by Channel 9 earlier today.
In the brief clip, we see glimpses of the new contestants as well as the return of host Scott Cam, who delivers two major bombshells that’ll surprise both the cast and the fans.
The first twist, the teaser reveals, is that for season 22, the entire cast of The Block will be living under the same roof for the duration of the build.
That’s right, all five teams will share the same living space as their renovations unfold, marking a shock twist from the usual format where they rough it out in grouped tents, caravans or makeshift living quarters on the property.
“We’re in a shared house here,” one of the shocked contestants says in the clip.
While this Big Brother-style shakeup is sure to bring more drama — with the already-stressed renovators all living in close proximity — it’s not the only series-first twist that awaits The Block for season 22.
“We’ve never had a water view before,” Scott teases in the promo clip.
Set to overtake Victoria’s Mount Eliza, the 2026 season of The Block will mark the series’ first set of properties that come with a water view, which will likely impact how the renovations unfold.
Previous instalments of The Block have been set in farmlands and even holiday parks, but contestants have never enjoyed uninterrupted ocean vistas until 2026.
It almost sounds like a holiday, were it not for all the labour-intensive renovations and the general anxiety of a high-pressure build.
We’ll get to see how both of these series-first twists play out when season 22 of The Block premieres on Channel 9 on Sunday, August 2.
