What is The Block?
For folks who’ve yet to feast their eyes on this Aussie reality TV classic, The Block is the nation’s most beloved home renovation show. Basically, teams of duos are tasked with upcycling a home, from the exterior to the interior, to the toilet to the kitchen, and all of that jazz!
In the finale, we get the big ol’ auction, and whoever sells their freshly reno’d home at the highest price wins the season.
Last year, Maddy and Charlotte won after selling their home for $3,500,000 to billionaire Adrian Portelli.
Who’s judging The Block 2025 (and who’s not)?
Scotty Cam and Shelley Craft and the judging panel is the usual suspects: Darren Palmer, Shaynna Blaze, and Marty Fox according to New Idea. Neale Whitaker is expected to pop in occasionally, but he’s taking a step back this year to care for his partner, David, who is dealing with many health issues.
Keith Schleiger, aka The Blockinator, is likely out again thanks to a combo of distance and hip surgery. But Foreman Dan is back, even after a tough year personally — he and his partner Dani lost their newborn daughter Billie in late 2024, but the family (including dogs Hazel and Olive) have relocated to Daylesford for filming.
Dani wrote on her Instagram when they moved to Daylesford: “Today, we (me, Hazel and Olive) relocated to Daylesford to be with Dan while he films the next Block. As you can imagine, this next period was supposed to be something it’s now not.
“We were so excited for this three month adventure with our little family… Billie had the cutest little wardrobe ready to roll too. So many things like this that actually don’t (and never did) really matter,” she continued.
“The hardest part of the next three months will now be surrendering to what this time actually is in real time, and not holding expectations or resentment about what it’s now not.”
Where is The Block 2025 filmed?
After a bit of a location saga last year, The Block is back in Daylesford for its 21st season. Producers originally bought up five pavilion-style homes at 9 Raglan Street, Daylesford, only to bail to Phillip Island in 2024 after some local backlash. But for 2025, it’s all systems go in country Victoria, and filming officially wrapped on June 1 — just in time for the show’s 1000th episode.
