
It caused a stir when it premiered in 1983. Stephen Sewell’s play The Blind Giant is Dancing is about an idealist who becomes so embroiled in a party power struggle that he loses sight of what’s at stake. Now, in light of the ICAC scandals, union credit cards questions and the speculative housing bubble, it’s a good time to look at the Australian classic once more.
It’s a tender and angry depiction about the corruptive nature of power . Artistic director Eamon Flack directs a company of twelve great actors, including Yael Stone, Dan Spielman and Ivan Donato.
