The bizarre item Aidan Turner took from Poldark set on last day of filming

Filming wrapped for the last series of Poldark in February ended an era of series which has arguably been on of the most popular TV shows in modern history for the BBC.

And with much of that filming taking place at Bristol, specifically Bottle Yard Studios, it has become a home from home for many of the cast and crew.

Particularly the title role playing actor Aidan Turner, who has sent many fans hearts fluttering with his depiction of the charismatic hero.

And he had a very specific, and large, memento he wanted to take from the set.

“I sent a text to Karen Thrussell, our executive producer, asking if I could possibly have the kitchen table and benches from Nampara as it is this beautiful, vintage French table," he said.

"They said yes, so I am very excited to put them in my house. That will be a cool memento because it was at the middle of all of the big scenes we had in Nampara and where a lot of things went down.

"Obviously I am also taking the tricorn hat...”

The first episode of the final series showcases Sunday, July 14.

The programme will see a new century dawn on the characters.

Following the death of Elizabeth, Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner) resolves to put Westminster behind him and spend more time with the people he loves.

however, when an old friend needs help, Ross is compelled to challenge the establishment and question his own loyalties to king and country.  As the Enyses (Luke Norris and Gabriella Wilde) rally to join the cause, Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) must contend with dangers close to home, while George (Jack Farthing) courts corrupt powers whose influence spans the Empire.

A number of new cast members are joining Poldark for series five, including Vincent Regan (300) as Ross' old Army Colonel Ned Despard and Kerri McLean (Electric Dreams) as Ned’s wife Kitty, a former slave. Sofia Oxenham (Grantchester) is the trecherous Tess Tregidden, Peter Sullivan (Entebbe) is the wealthy merchant, Ralph Hanson whose daughter Cecily (Lily Dodsworth-Evans - Genius) befriends Geoffrey Charles played by Freddie Wise (Maleficent 2).

Poldark is adapted by Debbie Horsfield (Age Before Beauty, Cutting It, The Riff Raff, Element) produced by Michael Ray (Poldark) and directed by Sallie Aprahamian (Doctor Who) and Justin Molotnikov (Stan Lee's Lucky Man).
