The bizarre injury keeping Huddersfield Town star out of Nottingham Forest clash

Huddersfield Town boss Danny Cowley has revealed a frustrating injury 'irritating' one of his star players.

Terriers midfielder Alex Pritchard has been out of action since the end of November with an uncommon injury, and he will also miss Saturday's clash with Nottingham Forest.

The former Spurs midfielder has a cyst on the back of his knee which is preventing him from playing to his full potential.

And Huddersfield boss Cowley has confirmed treatment is ongoing.

“For Alex it's a cyst at the back of his knee so the injections have been around aspirating the cyst (draining fluid from it) and reducing the size," said the Terriers boss.

“If you can get on with the pain there's not going to be any long-term damage but it's causing some inflammation, which is irritating Alex and making him feel he can't perform at his best.

“For Alex in the position he plays, he needs that sharpness, agility, change of direction and ability to perform physically at his top levels.”

Pritchard joined Huddersfield last year from Norwich City in a deal worth an estimated £11m.

The 26-year-old has made nine appearances so far this season and 44 in all since arriving at the John Smith's Stadium.

Pritchard scored twice against Forest for former club Norwich in 2017 when the Canaries saw off the Reds in a 5-1 hammering at Carrow Road.
