The Bitterite bites back

Charles Clarke was on fine form at the Fabian bash at the Labour party conference in Manchester last night. The former cabinet minister turned "bitterite" is on a mission to save the Labour party from electoral annihilation and he believes time is of the essence.

"Time is a very important and little appreciated factor," he told me. "The public dislike Gordon Brown but they don't yet dislike Labour. But that sentiment becomes less true with every passing day."
