The bitter two word response from sore loser Man City star over Spurs' Champions League success

Fernandinho turned the air blue after Manchester City were knocked out of the Champions League by Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Brazilian had been a controversial figure in the first leg of the tie after he landed a blatant elbow on Harry Kane and did start the decider with David Silva, Kevin Be Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan filling the midfield for Pep Guardiola's side.

A two-time Premier League champion with City, Fernandinho has come to be regarded as one of the most accomplished defensvie midfielders in Europe, although he dose have a reputation for making crafty fouls to get an advantage over his foes.

He entered the field in the 63rd minute in the second leg and in his 27 minutes of action, plus added time, he made two fouls and had to watch as Fernando Llorente found the net with the side of his body on the 73rd minute.

The video assisted referee was called into action to assess the incident over an alleged hand ball by the Spaniard but after watching replays it was decided that the goal should stand.

In the dying moments of the match, with City heading out of the Champions League on away goals despite winning the night 4-3, VAR made a call once again to rule out what had appeared to be a dramatic late winner for Raheem Sterling.

After finding the net twice in the first half, the Engishman was on for a memorable hat-trick to fire his side into the semi-finals to meet Ajax only for the officials to rule out his effort.

Sergio Aguero, the striker who had found the fourth goal for City earlier in the match, was found to have been in an offside position in the build up to Sterling's effort.

No goal, Spurs held on and Guardiola's side crashed out on away goals, an ending that Fernandinho struggled to take.

Speaking after the game in the mixed zone the Brazilian made his thoughts clear as he told the Manchester Evening News : "F**k VAR!"

For Tottenham fans who saw the midfielder strike out at Kane in the first half of their Champions League tie with City, sympathy for Fernandinho may be in short supply.
