The Billy Gilmour insider whispers that made Graeme Souness take notice of Chelsea wonderkid

When Billy Gilmour took to the field on March 3rd to face off against Liverpool and their Brazilian international Fabinho he looked like a boy amongst men.

His dominant performance caused widespread shock and delight as the gallus Ayrshire kid strolled through the match with the poise and grace of a superstar.

But for many in football, there was little surprise as news of Chelsea 's prodigious, potentially generational talent, had already began to filter out.

Speaking on Sky, former Rangers boss Graeme Souness detailed the whispers that had already reached his ears before the kid had even turned out for the first team.

He said: "Anybody you ask, any football person, Frank Lampard, ask any of them.

"I think he's got a great...I mean he's only 18, he's 19 in June.

"When you think of John McGinn and him for Scotland going forward, they have the potential to be top players both at international level and at their clubs.

"But Billy Gilmour is one I picked out because I've not enough of him and people are saying great things about him for such a young man."
