The Bill to make comeback for two series with original cast members 'in talks' to return

The Bill is reportedly set to make an exciting comeback with a selection of original cast members appearing in the show.

The iconic cop drama, that aired between 1983 and 2010, is set for a complete revamp amid reports that two new seasons are being created by writer Simon Sansome.

According to The Sun, actors Graham Cole, Trudie Goodwin and Mark Wingett are all in talks about reprising their roles when they appear in the reboot.

It is also understood that the new crime drama will be called Sun Hill, however, it is yet to be confirmed which channel will pick up the show.

An insider speaking to the publication revealed that the team are eager to move the project forward - over a decade since the show last appeared on screens.

“The project started picking up pace last year after the cast got together to mark ten years since the show last aired," the source said.

“Simon started investigating the rights and managed to acquire them. Three of the best known stars are in talks and he’s hopeful he can get them on board. Tony has seen the script and they hope they can get him signed up too.

The television source also added that there will be a mix of new stars alongside the more recognisable original cast members at the Sun Hill police station.

“The new, green, coppers need a helping hand after murder and suicide rates go sky-high in Sun Hill so they bring back the legends as consultants to help with their investigations," the insider continued.

The Bill ran from 1983 to 2010 and aired a whopping 2,425 episodes across its tenure before the show was eventually axed.

The original show also welcomed appearances from actors that went on to gain international fame in the showbiz world.
