The Bill's Reg Hollis star Jeff Stewart looks unrecognisable with cop drama set to return

Jeff Stewart is looking unrecognisable from his days as PC Reg Hollis in The Bill.

It has been 13 years since Reg was written out of Sun Hill and Jeff left the ITV cop drama but the original stars of the show are tipped to be making a comeback.

Back in the his pomp in the drama, Reg Hollis was known for his slicked back, wet-look hair but now Jeff is rocking a totally different style these days.

The 65-year-old had his grey hair falling down beneath a bright yellow cap while he was shopping in North London on Saturday.

Jeff was looking relaxed in a shirt and olive green jacket as he carried a tote bag and sported some shades as the sun beamed down on him.

It has been nearly 40 years since Jeff first came to prominence on TV as he appeared in soap opera Crossroads.

What followed was a role in Doctor Who in 1984 before he landed Reg Hollis in The Bill, who he then played for the next two decades.

Jeff played the much loved copper for 872 episodes before being retired from the show.

Speaking to The Sun previously, Jeff said that he had two choices after leaving The Bill.

He said: "I didn’t see a counsellor, it was evident I was OK and I never worried how it would affect my career.

“I thought, ‘I have a choice, you can either stagnate or blossom’.”

Among his acting credits after The Bill was in Under Jakob's Ladder in 2011, for which he won Best Actor at the Manhattan Film Festival.

Now, writers have acquired the original rights to the popular police show and Tony McHale, who is a long-standing writer for EastEnders and the creator of Holby City, is looking to adapt a new story for some of the original cast.

Unfortunately, among those that are rumoured to be involved, there has been no mention of whether Jeff will be slicking back his hair for one last hurrah as PC Hollis.
