The biggest villain of baseball season is this woman from the Phillies game

There is an unspoken rule in baseball: Whoever gets to the baseball first, gets in. Meaning if a player hits a home run or a foul ball into the stands, it is anyone’s ball. One lady clearly didn’t get that memo at the Phillies vs. Marlins game.

A viral moment took over the internet and had many, who love to investigate, trying to take down a woman who was the villain of the game. Why? Because she took a home run ball from a young kid. Now, to be fair, the kid did end up getting a signed bat, got to meet a player, and the teams there made sure his experience with baseball wasn’t ruined all because of this woman and her actions.

Before we dive in, I don’t think that she deserves to lose everything in her life because of this. I do, however, think that she deserves to be called out. When a home run was hit out into left field, a man ran over to grab it and bring it to his young son. The moment, which should have been wholesome, took a turn when a woman who was sitting a row behind where the ball dropped, demanded that the father give her the ball. Why? She felt that it belonged to her and he took it.

Lady, that’s not how baseball works. If a ball is hit, you run for it as a fan. You cannot claim it because it was hit near your seat. That’s just the luck of the game. But the moment was all captured on camera from multiple angles, including a close up with audio that showed the woman claiming he “took it from my hands.” He did not, as proven by the video capture by the broadcast.

Lady, you didn’t need a ball that badly

Sure, if this man walked over and took the ball from that lady for himself, we’d probably have a different reaction to this video. But this woman, even if she did think he took it from her, saw that he gave it to a young boy and decided to still scream at him as if he stole her belongings. There are other pictures as well where she felt justified in this, flipping off cameras and not caring that she got booed.

I understand that tensions get high at a baseball game but even if you really wanted to get a ball, it is easy to get there early and get some at batting practice. But taking a ball away from a little kid because you think you’re owed something is….truly baffling to see how much people don’t care. I’m glad that kid had his trip to the game made better by the team but that woman should be ashamed of herself.
