The biggest threat to Man City's title chances as Liverpool hope for a favour from Leicester

Tottenham failed. Manchester United couldn't do it. Burnley came up short.

Liverpool still need a favour in the Premier League title race.

But the Reds are running out of time. Man City are a point ahead and Familiar faces could settle Liverpool and Man City title battle as Jurgen Klopp's message rings true.

So, provided the Reds win at Newcastle on Saturday evening, Liverpool fans will be hoping old boss Brendan Rodgers and his Leicester side can do the business on Monday night.

And in Jamie Vardy, they just might have the man to do the damage against Pep Guardiola's men.

Indeed, the man who likes to party has been at his best under Rodgers, scoring nine goals in the Northern Irishman's nine games in charge.

Everybody knows about Leicester's capabilities as a counter-attacking team - a style that could be effective against a side who commit as many players forward as Man City.

Vardy is the spearhead of the Foxes' attack, chasing long balls into the channels and running into the space left behind sides that push up the pitch.

And he gets goals. Lots of them.

That might be why The impressive record that shows Manchester United were not Liverpool's last hope of stopping Man City in title race, the Foxes have taken more points than anyone else outside of Liverpool, City, Spurs, Man United, Chelsea and Crystal Palace on the road.

And it's against the top six that Vardy really shines.

The Englishman has scored eight goals against Arsenal, seven against Liverpool and five against each Manchester club, as well as five against Spurs and four versus Chelsea.

And he's not out of the race for the Golden Boot, either. Vardy has 18 goals this season - three behind top scorer Mohamed Salah.

Rodgers' men are currently third in the form table , winning five of their last six games and losing just once and have beaten City once already this season, triumphing 2-1 at the King Power in December.

Liverpool fans will hope that Rodgers can work his magic and deal Man City another title blow. Perhaps the decisive title blow.

And if he scores, Vardy can come and have a big party on Merseyside in May.
