
A multimillion home with an exclusive Newcastle address attracted local interest before it was snapped up ahead of its scheduled auction.
Walkom Real Estate's Graeme Brownlow marketed the circa 1880s Victorian Italianate residence at 20 The Terrace with a guide of $3.8 million to $4.1 million.
It was set for auction on May 22 but sold for an undisclosed sum two days before.
The residence was on a double block of 607 square metres with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, formal and informal lounge and dining areas and stunning original features throughout. The Terrace overlooks King Edward Park and was where many of the city's wealthy built their homes in the 1880s.

Robinson Property's Lyndall Allan marketed the five-bedroom, three-bathroom home with a pool on a block 1040 square metres in size at 6 Kabbarli Court. It was set for auction on Saturday but secured on May 14.

"There was a huge amount of interest from local and Hunter Valley families just seeking more space," Ms Allan said. "The size and the privacy were appealing. To only be 15 minutes out of Newcastle, it represented good value."
Ms Allan also sold a lovingly renovated three-bedroom, two-bathroom home at 53 George Street, Tighes Hill prior to auction for $1.2 million. It was set to go under the hammer today.

Belle Property Lake Macquarie have reported the fast sale of a vacant block of land in Macquarie Hills. The property at 97 Delaware Drive was 1247 square metres in size and marketed with a guide of $415,000. It reportedly sold for $450,000 in seven days.
A two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment in Charlestown's Highpoint at 1104/2 Charles Street that was east-facing and was marketed by Belle Property has sold for $645,000.
A circa 1920s residence overlooking Lake Macquarie at 328 The Esplanade in Speers Point was marketed by Belle Property with a guide of $1.35 million and has been secured before auction for an undisclosed sum rumoured to be $1.42 million.
Cameron Park continues to be sought after with Belle selling a four-bedroom house at 8 Vantage Circuit, Cameron Park for $710,000. It was marketed with a guide of $675,000 to $725,000. They also sold a four-bedroom home at 7 Hooghly Avenue for $770,000. It had a guide of $700,000 to $770,000 and both were on the market for less than three weeks.
A three-bedroom Federation home at 7 Jean Street in Belmont that was listed by Belle Property Newcastle with a guide of $790,000 sold before auction for $890,500.
