The big Man United decisions Jose Mourinho must make and the new player he has up his sleeve

We are now little more than a week away from the return of the Premier League.

Tottenham will return to action next Friday, with a game against Manchester United their first match back.

The players have been back in group training for a couple of weeks now as they gear up for the big kick-off.

Here we take a look at what's been going on behind the scenes ahead of the return of the Premier League and the state Spurs are in as they gear up for football again.

Transfer spending restricted

Jose Mourinho will be met with certain restrictions when it comes to making moves in the transfer window this summer.

The Spurs head coach will be looking for bargain deals and potentially loan signings because the coronavirus pandemic has hit the north Londoners hard.

And while that will be the case for a number of clubs, there will be a certain amount of envy from Tottenham supporters when looking across London and seeing Chelsea splash out £53million on Timo Werner.

Tottenham have a £1billion stadium complex to pay for and there are other issues too.

Here we take a look at why Tottenham simply cannot spend big money this summer.

New player to Mourinho

The 2019/20 season will get back under way next week.

And Jose Mourinho will have a number of players returning from injury to call upon again.

There is one player, whom he did use, albeit sparingly, that will be like a new signing for him though, after a training match showed him in his best light.

Find out more about who and why here.

Man United decisions

Tottenham's first game back in action in the Premier League will be a home game with Manchester United.

It will be a battle of two teams trying to make it back into the top four, with the winners giving themselves a huge advantage in that race.

As mentioned already, Mourinho has a fully-fit squad from which to choose for the contest, with Harry Kane, Moussa Sissoko, Son Heung-min and Steven Bergwijn all back from injury.

But picking any of those will be among a number of big decision the head coach will have to make.

Here we take a detailed look at what is on his plate.

Training ground

As has been the case on a number of occasions already in the past month, Tottenham players have been snapped at their Enfield training ground being put through their paces.

Photographers have been allowed access to take photos of the players in training for the return of the Premier League.
