Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp opens up on Mohamed Salah's injury ahead of Tottenham clash

It wasn't exactly the most enthralling of games at Old Trafford.

Liverpool were gunning for the joint longest run of wins in England's top flight, but were thwarted by old rivals Manchester United.

Marcus Rashford gave the home side the lead, in controversial circumstances, scoring despite Divock Origi appearing to be fouled in the build-up.

But Adam Lallana fired in an equaliser five minutes from time to secure a share of the spoils for Liverpool.

The Reds were not quite at full strength, with ace marksman Mohamed Salah missing out on the match with a twisted ankle.

Salah picked up the injury during the win over Leicester City before the international break and was not called up by Egypt as a result.

Liverpool host Tottenham at Anfield next weekend, but Spurs fans will have any smiles wiped off their faces at Salah's absence from the win over United.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was asked about Salah's absence prior to the clash at Old Trafford.

He said: "Mo was not ready so that's how it is, he couldn't train with the team, I don't where it came from that everybody said he will play, there was pretty much no chance for today, but maybe for Wednesday, we will see."

Liverpool take on Genk in the Champions League on Wednesday night, before a home game against Spurs on Sunday.

And with Spurs in their current run of form, they would have been looking for any advantage they could get against Klopp's side.
