The Big Breakfast fans applaud 'amazing' reboot and want a full series

The Big Breakfast returned to our screens for the first time in nearly 20 years this week — and viewers were loving it.

Channel 4 aired a rebooted one-off episode of the classic breakfast show with Mo Gilligan and Aj Odudu as presenters.

Fans took to Twitter to applaud the show, calling it "amazing" and calling on the channel to commission it for a full series.

AJ and Mo hosted games, celebrity interviews conducted by Judi Love, cooking segments and live phone-ins with the presenters from The Receipts Podcast.

Nile Rodgers chatted to Judi about his new music, and she even got him to say he loved watching Naked Attraction.

She also outrageously asked him if he liked sucking feet, and he said he was "down for it".

There was an appearance from Mel B, who said the Spice Girls would be touring by 2023.

Usain Bolt also gave an interview about his new music, and performed a dance routine with Mo and AJ.

The Receipts hosts gave advice to callers, including one woman who said she loved her boyfriend but wasn't satisfied by her sex life.

Mo and AJ also performed an EastEnders-themed comedy skit called Apples and Pears.

Viewers took to Twitter to praise the show, and said Channel 4 should make the one-off episode a full series.

One tweeted: 'This is amazing #TheBigBreakfast I'm joining everyone is saying: Bring. This. Back. Forever."

"BRING IT BACK FOR GOOD every Friday Mo and AJ amazing pair..." another posted.

A third said: "This has to be commissioned for a full series, right? Every presenter/reporter on there is great and the energy is just next level."

"Why is this only a one off?? Campaign for a full series, this is great!" a fourth agreed.

One part of the original series that didn't make it back was Zig and Zag, the beloved alien puppets.

AJ joked that Zig and Zag tried to return from the home planet, but Home Secretary Priti Patel didn't let them back into the country.

"Sad news, they both got seriously affected by the great moth pandemic of 2005 and emigrated back to the Planet Zog.

"Now Priti Patel won't let them back in!"

The original Big Breakfast ran from 1992 until 2002 and was presented by several different stars, including Chris Evans, Denise Van Outen and Zoe Ball.

It returned this week as part of Channel 4's special day of programming to celebrate black talent.
