'The best we have' - Chelsea fans' fears over prospect of losing Leeds United-linked Lewis Bate

After completing four signings so far this summer, Leeds United are reportedly moving swiftly in pursuit of a fifth with links to a Chelsea midfielder gaining significant momentum.

It has been reported this week that Lewis Bate is the subject of interest from a handful of Premier League clubs with Leeds understood to be at the front of the queue.

West Ham and Southampton are also said to be preparing bids for the 18-year-old who has a year left on his current deal at Chelsea.

Any deal would see the youngster would follow Jack Harrison, Junior Firpo, Amari Miller and Sean McGurk in through the door at Elland Road this summer, with Bate likely to initially join the latter duo in Mark Jackson's under-23s squad ahead of their first tilt at the Premier League 2 Division One.

The rumours have been met with plenty of optimism amongst Leeds supporters with Bate being hailed as one of England’s brightest talents whilst plenty of Chelsea fans are reluctant to see him go.
