The best rugby tries in the world this season watched by over 8 million

Another drama-filled rugby season has come to an end, and along the way there has been an abundance of spectacular tries.

The Top 14 drew to a close last weekend, with Toulouse beating La Rochelle to secure the title, whereas Super Rugby concludes proceedings this weekend with a Grand Final between Chiefs and Crusaders.

With the World Cup just a couple of months away, the 2022-2023 campaign was the perfect opportunity for players to leave a marker for their coaches as they hope to secure a flight to France in September, and some certainly achieved that with an array of quite tremendous scores.

These are the very best.

Best United Rugby Championship try

Joaquin Riera of Bennetton grabbed the coveted award in the URC after his stunning effort against Cell C Sharks in Round 17.

Bennetton lost the match 43-33 but there was a moment to remember for Riera, who notched up the season's greatest score.

The move starts out with a booming up-and-under from South African fly-half Rhyno Smith, who collects the ball and sticks a neat grubber in the path of Riera to complete an immaculate passage of play.

Best Gallagher Premiership try

Argentine flyer Matteo Carreras picked up the Gallagher Premiership try of the season for his side-stepping, gas masterclass for Newcastle Falcons against Northampton Saints back in October.

The wing bagged 13 tries last season and made up half the nominations for try of the season himself. It was an unforgettable score for the 23-year-old, but unfortunately his side went on to lose the match by one point at Franklin's Gardens.

Best Six Nations try

Scotland flyer Duhan van der Merwe scooped up the Six Nations try of the tournament for his superb solo effort against England in the opening round of the competition.

Scotland would go on to finish third in the table after also beating Wales and Italy.

The try picked up over 300,000 views on YouTube, half a million on Facebook, 2.2 million on Instagram, 2 million on TikTok and over 500,000 on Twitter.

Best Top 14 try

Cometh the hour, cometh the man.

In the Top 14 final, 24-year-old France fly-half Romain Ntamack completed a marvellous solo score to put Toulouse into the lead with just moments to spare.

The momentous score has been viewed over one million times on Twitter, 1.4 million on Instagram and over one million on TikTok.

Best Champions Cup try

Former Scarlets second-row Tadgh Beirne picked up Europe's try of the season in the Champions Cup. The finish itself was quite simple, but capped off a fantastic team move for Munster against Toulouse.

Offloads out the back door, marvellous handling and a sumptuous cross-kick, this try was quite simply perfect.

Best Challenge Cup try

Nadir Megdoud completed a sensational solo score for Stade Francais against Bennetton in what was actually the first try of the Challenge Cup season. Stade ruled victorious on the night, securing a 24-14 win.

This try hasn't been viewed as much as the others, and perhaps deserves more attention. From a kick and chase, to gas, to a powerful hand-off, it was a remarkable effort.

Best Super Rugby try

Super Rugby's best score has been dubbed "try of the century" by viewers.

It occurred in a match between Queensland Reds and Highlanders in May where the Reds produced as good a team try as you are likely to see.

The Super Rugby season isn't quite finished yet, but any team would be hard pressed to topple this effort.

It has notched up 400,000 views on Twitter alone, with another 50K on Facebook.
