Although I think Hay is one of the loveliest festivals I've been to, it sure was cold, wet and miserable this week. But it has led to a very busy week on the blog - and the books site - bowing only to the monsterthon that is Big Brother.
The best read blogs this week so far have been:
No 1. Mark Lawson's Big Brother: once again, a show cast for exhibitionism and division
No 2. The Hay relay story
No 3. Peter Bradshaw's And the Palme D'Or goes to ... a Romanian unknown
No 4. Richard Lea's Hay festival: Pamuk without the politics
No 5. Ronald Bergan's What, no more Paul Newman?
Also incredibly popular was our Film Weekly podcast from Cannes and our daily Haycasts, especially this one with Dave Eggers and this one on Gordon Brown.
It's not only Hay that has been damp - the whole of May certainly was, too. What's that all about? May has always been one of my favourite months, everything lush and blooming. Well, it has brought us record traffic, so I suppose I shouldn't complain. Some of the blog's you enjoyed reading most this month were my colleague Alex's What's the Worst Song Lyric Ever?, John Moore's Scarlett Johansson Joined My Old Band, Peter Bradshaw's review of Tarantino's new film, Death Proof and Maev Kennedy's reaction to the Cutty Sark fire.
Hope that's of interest. Have a great weekend.
