England have beaten Denmark in the second semi-final of Euro 2020 to seal a place in the European Championship final against Italy on Sunday.
A tense game saw England come from behind after a stunning Mikkel Damsgaard free-kick gave the Danes the lead but Gareth Southgate’s team and responded well and were rewarded when Simon Kjaer turned the ball into his own net from a Bukayo Saka cross.
A tense second half saw the game finish 1-1 forcing the game into extra time but around 12 minutes into the first half of this added period saw England awarded a contentious penalty after Raheem Sterling was deemed to have been brought down. Harry Kane missed the initial shot but turned in the rebound as Kasper Schmeichel parried the ball.
It wasn’t an easy game for England as Denmark proved a tough and organised team to break down and caused more than a few problems for the Three Lions. However, England proved resolute and managed to get the result that England has waited for more than 50 years to achieve leading to emotional scenes at a packed Wembley stadium.
This will be England’s first major tournament final since 1966 and as you can guess, people were pretty jubilant about the win.
Football: there’s nothing like it. One minute it rips you apart, the next it sends you into orbit.

It was all a great feeling to win but people weren’t enthusiastic about ITV’s commentary.
well, at least we don’t have to listen to the itv commentary again.

All credit should go to Denmark who gave England a really tough and tense match especially after the emotional rollercoaster of a tournament that they have gone through.
Well played to the Denmark team. You gave it everything and more. Your country should be very proud of you.

Spare a moment for Denmark, had the horrendous Christian Eriksen moment, lost the first two games of the tournament but they made it to the semi-finals of the Euros. Massive respect to each and everyone of them👏🇩🇰 pic.twitter.com/LK92PL26Ki

Even the dreaded ‘ITV curse’ didn’t stop Southgate’s side.
The curse of ITV has been broken. But at what terrible cost.

Defend, defend, defend, win a few cheap fouls and go through on a dodgy penalty. The most Italian team in the tournament meets Italy in the final.
