The best reactions to Bon Jovi's 'Bono was beaten up by Orangemen’ comment

A lot of people have been left feeling rather confused following Jon Bon Jovi's 'revelation' in a recent podcast.

The Grammy Award winner claimed that when Bono was a child, he was threatened by Orangemen while walking through his Dublin neighbourhood.

Talking in the US-based Armchair Expert podcast, Jon Bon Jovi said the U2 frontman's "upbringing was obviously very different" to his.

He added: "I never had the Orangemen walking through my neighbourhood saying, you know, get the Catholic kid and beat him up.

"You know I didn't have any of that kind of turmoil in suburban New Jersey."

This surprised many listeners, as Bono - also known as Paul David Hewson - grew up in Finglas in North Dublin.

Bono had a Catholic father and a Protestant mother.

One user took to Twitter with a clever response, saying: "There must have been a tanning salon across the road."

Another added: "More chance of there being Oompa Loompas in Bono's childhood neighbourhood than Orangemen..."

We've put together some more social media reactions after Bon Jovi's comments...

Sounds like a good watch!

Many listeners seem to have had the same reaction.

And another Oompa Loompa comment.

Could this be true?

Poor Bon Jovi.

Maybe he got mixed up?

Bono attended Mount Temple Comprehensive School, a multi-denominational secondary school in Clontarf.
