The team celebrates after Jordan Henderson’s goal
(Picture: The FA via Getty Images)England have beaten Ukraine in the last 8 of Euro 2020 to progress to the semi-finals of the competition after what can only be described as a veritable thrashing.
Captain Harry Kane and Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire delighted fans with goals in their team’s quarter final showdown with Ukraine in Rome.
Understandably, England fans were stunned by the result, which takes England through to the team’s first European Championship semi-final for 25 years.
Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions had roared into the quarter finals with a 2-0 over Germany, but this performance was even more stunning, with Kane putting England in the lead within four minutes of kick-off.
Seconds into the second half, Maguire scored England’s second goal, before Kane scored his second of the night, taking it to 3-0. Jordan Henderson took the scoreline to a hefty 4-0.
England will now play Denmark in the semi-finals, after they beat the Czech Republic 2-1.

Although, for some, it was almost a TOO good start, with supporters admitting they weren’t used to feeling so, umm, relaxed about a crunch football game involving England, so soon after the first whistle...
The absence of anxiety is making me anxious #ENGUKR

For some reason I’m always more nervous when we’re 1-0 up than when it’s 0-0. Come on England - just one more and I can relax a little bit! #ENG #ENGUKR

Only trouble with a 4th min goal........86 min of pure terror left ! #ENGUKR
— Krissyboi💙 (@diggamatik) July 3, 2021
Now, I am worried that the goal was too early. Whenever Arsenal go 1-0 up within five mins, they end up losing in the end. #ENGUKR

Others said they couldn’t think about celebrating until England scored at least another goal. Soon after Kane put England in front, the term “please England” was trending on Twitter as fans begged the team for a second...
Just another 2 or 3 to settle the nerves please England
— Rob Berrisford (@RobBerrisford) July 3, 2021
Can we make it 2-0 please England
— Rachael (@rachaelburt1) July 3, 2021
Clearly, the England team listened – and answered the pleas. Which prompted fans to celebrate hard...
