The best prosecco in the UK has been named and it's £8 from Morrisons

Christmas is fast approaching now and many of us need little invitation to fizz up our festive season with a drop of prosecco.

So it's right on cue that Good Housekeeping have named their 'best prosecco in the UK' for this year.

And the winner might surprise you as it's a bargain bottle that definitely won't break the bank if you're trying to not spend so much year on Christmas food and drink for this year.

The very easy on the wallet Morrisons' The Best Prosecco , has taken the top spot in this year's   Good Housekeeping   taste test - with experts crowning it 2019's number one bottle for festivities.

Each prosecco is ranked out of 100 on a number of factors and the Morrisons fizz didn't drop too many marks at all, finishing on a total of 89.

It's online product description reads "Full of sparkle and under a tenner... what more can you ask for from Italy’s best known fizz? It’s light and fruity, lemony and creamy and really gets the party started. Have it with your Friday night Chinese and celebrate the start of the weekend.

"If something’s worth doing, then it’s worth doing twice. That’s why this bottle of bubbles from Italy is fermented twice, doubling the fizz and the fun. It’s a lovely drink to take to a party as it’s great for sharing, but why wait till then?

Morrisons' The Best prosecco (Morrisons)

"At this amazing price you can crack open a bottle any day of the week when you’re having seafood or Thai noodles.

"Stick your nose in and breathe deeply and you’ll get a zesty whiff of refreshing lemons. Follow it with a sip to get a blast of bubbles and a nutty, creamy flavour. Sheer perfection in a glass.

Harvey Nichols' Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore, £16 came in second place and in the Good Housekeeping  champagne test, it was the Bollinger Special Cuvee NV Champagne (83/100; £45 for 75cl) that the panel enjoyed the most, with its lingering, dry finish and notes of apple.
