With Christmas and New Year's Eve celebrations behind us, the chance to get out of the house with your loved ones might be just what you need.
Nottinghamshire has a wealth of scenic parks, forests and walkways that are ideal for winter walks.
These are some of the best places to stroll through as we kick of 2022
Wollaton Park
A firm favourite among people in the city and wider region, at Wollaton Park you will find a a park beaming with history and natural beauty that make it a wonderful pick for anybody looking for a winter walk..

The Elizabethan architecture and peaceful lake at Wollaton Park and Hall are some of the more scenic spots in the park.
But on quieter days, Wollaton Park has a number of beautiful walks to take in the historic grounds, spot the native deer and then you can head over to one of the two cafes to warm up.
The Christmas at Wollaton Light Show is on until Sunday, January 9, at Wollaton Hall and Gardens along with a new extended trail.
The Bishop's Walkabout
This route starts and ends at the car park on Nottingham Road, west of Cropwell Bishop. You leave the car park on the left-hand side and walk along the side of the playing field with the canal on your left and a fence on your right. The 3.5 mile moderate walk takes in several sites in the area.
Farnsfield and the Halifax bomber memorial
This route starts from Farnsfield and takes walkers southwest towards Riddings Farm
The bomber memorial is signed on the footpath. After looking at the memorial, you can backtrack to the farm road, and then complete the walk round to Bird Wood, giving a bit of a climb and some good views, and then head back across the fields.

Sherwood Forest
Delve into 2022 with the Robin Robin Adventure Trail around the historic Sherwood Forest.
The historic forest is said to be ideal for family outings and even better for ones that want to bring their pets along with them!
An popular walk is said to lead down the Major Oak Trail; a journey that takes you to the hideout of Nottingham's favourite outlaw - Robin Hood.

Clumber Park
With over 3,800 acres to explore the National Trust site is full of wintry opportunities. Whether you fancy a leisurely stroll or are looking to get active before the new year Clumber Park provides the perfect backdrop.
For those that like to be at one with nature when they are out and about, Clumber Park contains 120 different types of trees and the stunning Serpentine Lake at the heart of the estate - a treat for the eyes.
Clumber Park is open to the public seven days a week, from 9am – 4pm throughout winter.

Newstead Abbey
A beautiful historic house set in a glorious landscape of gardens and parkland Newstead Abbey was founded as a monastic house in the late 12th century.
The gardens and parkland cover more than 300 acres with paths that meander past lakes, ponds and waterfalls.
Visitors will be walking in the footsteps of the poet Lord Byron, getting a sight of Boatswain the dog's tomb and, if you're lucky, spotting a peacock or two moseying around the grounds.
