The best place to live in Nottinghamshire - as voted by you

More than a quarter of you think the Vale of Belvoir is the best place to live in Nottinghamshire, our poll has revealed.

This area in Notts is one of the best places to live in Britain - but what makes it so good? was recently voted as one of the best places to live in Britain by the Sunday Times and the majority of those who took part in our poll have agreed.

Those living in the beautiful, rural swathe of Nottinghamshire, which also is on the border of Leicestershire and Lincolnshire, said it was perfect for children to go on "adventures".

Others described the vast region, which includes small villages such as Langar, as "a painting".

More than 650 voted in the poll, and 29.8 percent of voters chose the Vale of Belvoir to be reigning champion.

In joint-second place was Bingham and The Meadows, with 7.3 percent of voters selecting the vastly different areas to be their favoured place to live.

The Meadows, a residential pocket of Victorian and Edwardian terraced houses, is around a 30 minute walk from Nottingham city centre.

Many buildings were built in the 1970s, following the demolition and mass clearance in which 22 pubs were lost.

One of the last remaining buildings from before the period of regeneration is St Savior's Church, which opened in 1864.

The Riverway pub, in Arkwright Walk, became the most recent pub to close its doors at the beginning of April and many residents were left "saddened" by the news.

Many residents living in the area welcomed more restaurants, pubs and some nice shops.

Bingham, on the other hand, lies nine miles east of Nottingham and lies on the border of the Vale of Belvoir.

The English market town, within the borough of Rushcliffe, proved the second most popular location for those living in Nottinghamshire alongside the Meadows.

A total of 30 places were included in the poll, this is how they were ranked:
