The best pictures of animals playing in the snow as UK freezes

As freezing temperatures, snow and ice cause widespread travel chaos for commuters today, there are some who are making the most of the wintry conditions.

As an antidote to the complaints of flight delays and train disruptions, people are sharing videos and pictures of their pets enjoying the snow that has fallen across the UK this week.

Dogs have been joining in toboggan runs, while pet chickens and rabbits are have been experiencing a white winter for the first time.

Even cats have been getting outdoors to explore the white stuff.

At London Zoo, pigs, penguins and otters enjoyed their first flurry of snow in the capital.

Britain experienced its coldest night since 2012 as temperatures plunged as low as -15C.

There is a yellow warning from the Met Office in place for London until 1pm, with the temperature sitting at around 3C and down to 1C.

However, it will consistently feel sub-zero, with the Met reporting it could feel as cold as -4C.

More than 10cm of snow has fallen across the UK, already exceeding forecasters predictions.
