The best photos from World Naked Bike Ride 2019 in Bristol

Hundreds of nude cyclists rode through Bristol today (June 9) for the World Naked Bike Ride 2019 .

The annual spectacle takes place in cities all over the UK and attracts hundreds of entrants and curious onlookers, especially in Bristol where the event is particularly popular.

The event was held to raise awareness of how vulnerable people on bikes are in the city.

Riders congregated at the Full Moon on Stokes Croft at 12.30pm, before setting off at 1.30pm and making their way through the city centre .

Lucy Muse, a participant who has taken part in numerous other naked bike rides, said: "I love the feeling of being naked, freedom of expression is important to me as an artist.

"It’s a good cause to support too. Bristol is quite small so there’s a mix of different reactions but it’s very respectful and supportive."

Amy Willis, 31, rode in a swimming costume for her first naked bike ride.

"It’s about raising the profile of cycling and how cyclists are vulnerable so I’m doing it for environmental reasons," she said.

"I probably won’t feel self conscious, especially in comparison to everyone else.

"If I was completely naked I would but this is my middle ground.

Another naked rider added: "When I did my first naked ride I was expecting a negative reaction but we got lots of cheers and high fives.

"You get the odd person who doesn’t like it though."
