The best New Year's Eve 2021 parties and events in Manchester

Following news that there will be no further lockdown restrictions implemented by the government before we ring in 2022, it appears that the New Year's Eve is now back on.

Sadly, one major casualty is the city's annual New Year fireworks display, which was officially cancelled last week.

But while advance ticket sales will have taken a significant hit, there are still plenty of events going ahead, for those still in the festive party spirit.

Here's a round-up of the best night's out in town...

Warehouse Project NYE

(Newcastle Chronicle)

In limbo no more, the Warehouse Project will be seeing in the New Year with a solid line-up of DJs, headlined by Brighton's own Fatboy Slim and Radio 1's Annie Mac. Joining them on the bill will be Hannah Wants, Yousef, Low Steppa, My Nu Leng & Dread MC, Sarah Story and Jess Bays, alongside venerable residents Krysko and Greg Lord. Sadly, the event is sold out, so you may struggle to secure tickets at this stage.

Depot, Mayfield | NYE (10pm to 4am), info at thewarehouseporject.com

Cafe Mambo at The Albert Hall

(Jack Kirwin)

Ibiza institution Cafe Mambo will be coming to the Albert Hall, with the legendary Todd Terry headlining. He's joined by Lovely Laura & Ben Santiago, Erik Hagleton and the magnificent House Gospel Choir, who will be tugging on the heartstrings. Tickets are still available from the likes of Skiddle, with proof of either double vaccination from the NHS app, or proof of a negative lateral flow test in the preceding 24 hours before the event, also uploaded to the NHS app.

Albert Hall, 27 Peter Street, Manchester, M2 / 9pm till 4am / Get tickets here...

Theatre Impossible

Just a few tickets remain for the immersive theatre-meets-club experience, though for late arrivals only - from 2am, giving you three hours to get involved before doors at 5am. The New Year's Eve special is simply called 'The Show'. Proof of vaccine is not required, though a negative lateral flow test is.

Impossible, 36 Peter Street, Manchester, M2 / 9pm till 5am / Tickets available here...

Come As You Are at The Refuge

Paulette Constable (Elspeth Mary Moore)

There are few more handsome places to bring in the New Year than The Refuge, and still fewer better party starters in the entire city to do it with. Supernature Disco and the magnificent DJ Paulette will be at the controls in the Public Bar. Tickets for 'dancing' (at £20) are still available, though the Dine & Dance package is now sold out.

The Refuge, Principle Hotel, Oxford Road, M60 / 7pm till 2am / Tickets available here...

Floorplan at Joshua Brooks

Detroit veteran Robert Hood and his daughter Lyric will be in town under their Floorplan alias, bringing in 2022 with some sturdy techno. Sharples and Bill Rogers will be providing able support. Tickets are still available at £25 plus booking, with either proof of double vaccine or a negative, uploaded LFT required for entry.

Joshua Brooks, 106 Princess Street, M1 / 9pm till 4am / Tickets available here...

Rooftop New Year's Eve Party at King Street Townhouse

The sixth floor terrace at King Street Townhouse (Matt Ratcliffe)

The roaring 20s will be the theme for the King Street Townhouse's rooftop New Year's Eve bash. At the top end, tickets include champagne, canapes, a three-course dinner, festive hot drinks, and a glass of something to toast at midnight, while party-only tickets see live entertainment from the Bentley Brothers and DJs and dancing until the small hours.

King Street Townhouse, 10 Booth Street, M2 / From 6pm till late / Tickets are available here...

NYE Parade at Ramona and The Firehouse

(The Firehouse MCR)

Why not say good riddance to 2021 at one of the best spots the city has offered up this year. There are still a few tickets left for the end of year shenanigans at the LA-inspired outdoor bar, both standing only (with access to the all-important dance tents and 'festival tipi'), and some remaining party booths.

Ramona, 40 Swan Street, M4 / Grab tickets here...

Ultimate Power NYE at the O2 Ritz

For those whose Christmases have offered up a painful lack of hair metal and power ballads, the folks from Ultimate Power have the cure for your ailments. There will be air guitar, there will be feelings, and there will be, in all likelihood, some Def Leppard.

O2 Ritz, Whitworth Street West | 9pm to 3am | Tickets available at Dice.

Grower Champagne & British Seafood at Flawd

(Supplied)

The absolute opposite of Ultimate Power can be found at New Islington wine store and bar Flawd, which is hosting a celebration of seafood and champagne. A bottle of fizz comes with each table reservation, and the festivities carry on until a civilised 2am.

Flawd, 9 Keepers Key, New Islington / 6pm - 2am / Tickets available here...

Music of Many Colours at NAM

(Ben Blackall 2017)

Audio nerd and Vietnamese food paradise NAM will be busting out its magnificent soundsystem for New Year's Eve, with help from So Flute's Danuka and Yadava, joined by Contours, and all overseen by the masterful master of ceremonies, MC Kwasi.

Nam, 33 Blossom St, Ancoats, M4 / 9pm to 3am / Get tickets here...

Vegan NYE at Grub

(Manchester Evening News)

Planning to hurl yourself headlong into 'veganuary'? Then why not start on the very stroke of midnight, with a celebration of everything plant-based at Grub. Nosh comes from vegan street food types Seitan's Kebab and Korean Grub Club, with diversions including cocktail karaoke, disco bingo and DJs till late.

Grub, 50 Redbank, Manchester, M4 / 8pm till late / Get tickets here...
