This is the basic truth: you probably don’t need a separate night cream. Your regular moisturiser will probably be fine. You don’t need your day cream’s SPF, true, or the magic ingredients that make your make-up sit nicely, but the things you may have heard about the benefits of night cream (your skin absorbs ingredients better while you sleep, etc) are myths. However, there are a load of new night products that you may not need, but you might quite like. I’m enjoying the new Dr Hauschka Night Serum (£39, dr.hauschka.com) – the idea is that rather than introduce new oils and emollients, it helps the skin to balance itself. It’s light as water and smells like roses. And while it won’t make you sleep better, it could make you look as though you have.
