The best new ‘naked’ make-up

selection of almost-there make-up
Subtle shades: a selection of the best almost-there make-up.

At the spring/summer shows, the biggest make-up trend on the catwalks was “no make-up.” As in – none! Don’t wear it. As in (if you are me) – look like you’ve just woken up. Look shocking. Thanks, guys. The models at Marc Jacobs walked bare-faced (just a bit of moisturiser) – I won’t be. But I will be wearing some of this season’s new almost-there bases. There are a few worth mentioning – Maybelline’s Dream Flawless Nude (£8.99, maybelline.com) is excellent value, for instance – but the one that I love is BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream (£26, bareminerals.co.uk), launching in April (the finish is so light and radiant it’s worth the wait). There are also some great nude colour collections: see Bobbi Brown, NARS and Topshop, whose Nude Eyes (£7, topshop.com) makes wearing “no make-up” quite lovely.

Alternatively

Bobbi Brown Illuminating Nudes Lip Gloss £18.50, bobbibrown.co.uk
NARS St Lucia Illuminating Multiple in Sheer Rose £30, narscosmetics.co.uk
DiorSkin Nude Air Serum Foundation £33, dior.com
