The best new hydrating lipsticks

Pucker up: glossy and classy – these products will keep your lips coloured and moisturised.

The new hydrating lip colours are great value for money because they give good colour and they moisturise your lips. It’s what you will tell yourself as you once again reach for your Visa debit. They are lovely, though, the way they offer just a sheer kiss of red and feel like the gentlest Vaseline. The shades in Chanel’s new Rouge Coco collection are each named after one of Coco’s “friends, lovers or muses”. My favourite is “Arthur” (£26, selfridges.com), after Arthur “Boy” Capel, playboy, sponsor and love of Chanel’s life who died in a car crash on his way to meet her. Heartbreak in a hydrating lipstick. I love it.
