It has been a busy summer for Chelsea thus far with no less than six first-team signings.
Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva and Kai Havertz will be available to head coach Frank Lampard for the 2020/21 season, while Malang Sarr is one for the future.
However, there's one player who many Blues fans have high hopes for ahead of the new campaign - and he's not one of the aforementioned names.
Mateo Kovacic was one of Chelsea's more consistent performers last season and has picked up from where he left off.
Starting for Croatia in their UEFA Nations League clash against France - in a repeat of the 2018 World Cup final - the midfielder found himself up against club teammates Olivier Giroud and N'Golo Kante.
And despite ending up on the losing side, Kovacic caught the eye with his performance.
As spotted by many supporters, his numbers against the World Champions made for good viewing as he recorded an assist, completed 92% of his passes and won 3/4 tackles.
This performance has prompted a massive response on social media, with many sending a message to Lampard that Kovacic should be a starter in central midfield next season.
Take a look at some of the best responses on Twitter...
Unfortunately for those hoping to see Kovacic in action against Brighton and Hove Albion next Monday, he is unavailable after being sent-off in the FA Cup final against Arsenal.
A decision that left Lampard questioning the point of VAR.
"What kind of rule is that? There's always been this one that you couldn't challenge two yellows," he told beIN Sport. "Someone's sitting there really stubbornly sticking to their guns on that one.
"If we have VAR, that's great, let's use it as much as we can to get the right decision. That's nowhere near, it changes the game.
"We pushed them a bit at the end, I can't fault the lads' effort for pushing. But it was never a red card.
"Again, I always try and come back to us and we didn't do enough to win the final."
