The best hair and beauty looks from the Golden Globes 2019

Awards season kicked off on Sunday with the 76th Annual Golden Globes.

Not only does the season bring with it a steady stream of lust worthy couture, but also a deluge of runway-inspired beauty looks that provide the perfect antidote to our January blues, and ample beauty inspo for your next big event… or you know, work on Monday.

After a somewhat sombre palette at last year’s event, the stars brought their beauty A-game to the Golden Globes red carpet, championing a return to bold colour and high octane glamour.

One of our favourite beauty looks of the night came from Lili Reinhart. The Riverdale star made a case for coordinating your eyeshadow to your dress, as she paired a gorgeous red-hued smoky eye with her billowing red tulle Khyeli Couture gown.

Emmy Rossum went for a similarly monochrome vibe, this time wearing a pale pink hue across her lids, lips and cheeks that tied in perfectly with her princess Monique Lhuillier gown.

Lupita Nyong’o’s makeup artist Nick Barose meanwhile used Prismatic Colours Lashes from Lashify in a bright cobalt colour which (there’s a theme here) also picked out the colour of Nyongo’s beaded blue Calvin Klein dress. For anyone not convinced of the powers of coloured mascara, this look might just change your mind.

Camilla Belle also made the case for bold eye look, pairing her slicked-back, wet bob with a bright green eyeshadow (Chanel Beauty's Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in “306 Spendeur et Audace" to be precise) generously daubed all over her lids and lower lash lines.

Finally, special mention must go to Janelle Monáe for the most outrageously radiant skin of the evening. A masterclass in the beauty of good – and liberal – highlighter application, Monáe finished her glowing look with a simple winged liner and a slick of sheer lipgloss. Classic? Yes. Boring? Most certainly not.
