The best dog-friendly bars and restaurants in Carmarthenshire to visit with your pet

Many of us dog lovers hate being parted from our pets for hours on end.

Thankfully there are a number of pubs and restaurants throughout Carmarthenshire where they can tag along.

From cosy village pubs to artisan delis, there are plenty of places throughout the county where your pet can get comfortable while you tuck in to some delicious food.

Here's a list in no particular order of some of the best dog-friendly spots around Carmarthenshire where you have to take your four-legged friend.

1. St Elli's Bay, Llanelli

The restaurant, which opened earlier this year, has a special area for owners to sit with their dogs.

Bowls of water can be found dotted throughout the dedicated area so your pet can enjoy a well-deserved break after a walk along the Millennium Coastal Path.

2. Ginhaus Deli, Llandeilo

The deli in the heart of Llandeilo offers fresh pasta, artisan bread and gin and even welcomes dogs inside.

It's the perfect place to stop for a snack or a much-needed drink after a long walk with your pooch.

3. The Forest Arms, Brechfa

The open fire at this pub in Brechfa is ideal for your pet to get comfy while you enjoy a drink and a bite to eat.

This pub also offers a large beer garden with plenty of seating.

4. The Warren, Carmarthen

The family run and sustainably driven cafe and restaurant offers local organic food and a range of cocktails.

Dogs are welcomed with a bowl of water.

5. The Black Lion, Abergorlech

Well behaved dogs are welcome in both the bar area and the coffee shop/restaurant at The Black Lion.

Owners can take advantage of the cosy village pub's location, with signposted walks in the Brechfa forest just a stone's throw away.

6. The Plash Inn, Whitland

From cold nights beside the open log fire, to sunny evenings out in the beer garden, you can take your dog to the Plash Inn all year round.

The whole terrace-style cottage pub is dog friendly.

7. The Castle Hotel, Llandovery

The Castle are "firm believers in relaxed, unpretentious dining" which makes it a great spot to take your pet along to.

If you fancy staying the night, the hotel upstairs offers pet-friendly rooms too.

8. Bunch of Grapes, Newcastle Emlyn

Well behaved dogs are allowed in this Grade II listed building in the heart of Newcastle Emlyn.

The pub has a selection of dog biscuits ready on the bar, including homemade gluten free ones for dogs prone to allergies.

There are even sausages available on request.

9. Brown's Hotel, Laugharne

Dogs are welcome at the iconic pub in Laugharne which was once Dylan Thomas's favourite watering hole.

You can even stay overnight in one of the 13 individually styled en-suite rooms upstairs.
