Billy Sharp has extended his stay at Sheffield United by a further two years and revealed it was the ‘best’ contract he’s signed.
The Blades hero will remain at Bramall Lane until the summer of 2022 at least, putting an end to speculation to doubts surrounding his future and a possible move back to the East Midlands.
Sharp, 34, was heavily linked with a return to former club Nottingham Forest during the January transfer window before opting to remain in Sheffield to help his boyhood club and their surprise fight for European football.
"This was a no brainer for me, personally,” Sharp told the Blades’ website.
“I've said previously about wanting to finish my career here and the talks were pretty simple.
"I want to be a part of this squad for the next two years and see what heights we can reach.

“The manager and the staff have pushed me to get fitter, stronger and have helped me become a better player.
“I was over the moon when the gaffer came to me and this feels like it is the best contract I've signed, but I've worked extremely hard on and off the pitch to earn the deal."
Blades boss Chris Wilder admitted Sharp’s first season in the Premier League had been a challenging one but praised the ex-Forest loanee for his attitude.

"Ever since I've been at the football club, Billy has been a major factor for us and it's been quite a difficult season for him, particularly at the start,” Wilder said.
“But he understood that, got his head down and has led the group magnificently when he wasn't playing and with his current performances he's proved he's still got a lot to offer.
"Having someone like Bill around for the next two season is great for myself, the other players and for the football club.”
