The best Christmas light displays in Bristol

Christmas is around the corner, and this year families across Bristol have gone all out to make their houses look as festive as possible.

In every avenue of Bristol you can find a house that’s glittered with lights, giant snowmen and nativity scenes, often playing music to amuse the little ones.

Some households have even put on nightly Christmas light displays, in line with COVID guidance, to raise money for chosen charities.

Here are some of this year's best:

Christmas lights display at Tunbridge Way (Alex and Mark Clifford)

Tunbridge Way, Emersons Green

Alex and Mark Clifford are holding an incredible Christmas lights display to raise money for the National Autistic Society.

The lights will be switched on from 4.30pm - 9.30pm and you can find them on Tunbridge Way in Emersons Green.

You can donate to the charity here.

Christmas lights at Eastland Avenue in Thornbury (Kimmy Louise Jefferies)

Eastland Avenue, Thornbury

The Jefferies Christmas lights display in Thornbury is still going ahead this year, but the couple are asking visitors to respect social distancing, and say hand sanitiser is provided.

They're raising money for charities Cancer Research UK and Jigsaw Thornbury.

You can find the beautiful lights display on Eastland Avenue.

Kent Avenue, Yate

If you're looking for something a little extra, visit the Christmas lights display on Kent Avenue in Yate.

Not only do they have an array of Christmas objects and projections that illuminate the house, the lights are synchronized to a special Christmas playlist.

This year they are asking for donations to go to Cancer Research UK.

Christmas lights on Materman Road in Stockwood (Jane Garton)

Materman Road, Stockwood

The Garton family have pushed the boat out this year with glowing Christmas canes, snowmen and light-up penguins.

They switch their Christmas lights on from 4.30-9.30, with snow being turned on between 5 and 6.

The family say if you want a 'Blizzard Blast' then ring the bell when you visit. How exciting!

Christmas lights on Hollisters Drive in Hartcliffe (Becky Coles)

Hollisters Drive, Hartcliffe

You can find this Christmas spectacle on Hollisters Drive in Hartcliffe, switched on from 4pm-9pm.

There will also be music, snow and a 'treat tree' at the house every weekend in December.

The display is rasing money for the Wallace and Gromit Grand Appeal.

Becky Coles, who lives at the property, says "come and visit if you are local and passing."

Christmas lights at Crossfield Road in Staple Hill (Jake Skinner)

Crossfield Road, Staple Hill

This beautiful display can be found on Crossfield Road in Staple Hill, and is switched on every night from 5-8.30pm.

It's in aid of Macmillan cancer support.

Sweets, badges and pens are given out on weekends - so perfect for the kids!

Christmas lights on Trevisa Grove in Brentry (Purplefish PR)

Trevisa Grove, Brentry

The Brailsford family are back at it again this year with their incredible array of Christmas lights and decs - raising money for The Grand Appeal.

This is their 26th year and they've raised over £74,000 so far - and they don't seem to be stopping any time soon.

The family are urging people to visit and say there is social distancing markings and also hand sanitizer available.
