'The best and only option' - Chelsea fans buzzing as Frank Lampard return rumours grow

Chelsea fans have been reacting to the latest reports that Frank Lampard is set to take over as manager.

Reports on Thursday night claimed that the Blues had reached an agreement with Juvenutus for current manager Maurizio Sarri to take over, with club legend Lampard lined up to replace the Italian in the Stamford Bridge dugout.

The legendary Blues midfielder has been cutting his managerial teeth in the Championship with Derby County, who he lead to the play-off final in his first season in charge.

Sarri's future at Stamford Bridge has been the source of speculation for many month, with his imminent departure looking likely since the end of the Premier League season, despite a third place finish and a Europa League trophy.

Juventus have turned to Sarri after it was announced that Massimiliano Allegri was leaving the club at the end of the season, and the Chelsea manager was reported to be keen on a move back to his home country after just one season in England.

Appointing Lampard as manager is seen as somewhat of a risk for the Blues, because of the former midfielder's inexperience as a manager - the season just gone was the 40-year-old's first ever in management.

But, his appointment will generally be a popular move among Chelsea fans because of his status at the club from his playing days, when he played a total of 640 times for the club scoring a record 209 goals.

As the reports surfaced, the Blues fans were quick to show their excitement at a legend returning back 'home'.
