Although Amazon hasn’t officially announced its Black Friday or Cyber Monday promotions and deals just yet, the Holiday Dash deals serve as a nice sneak peek into the types of deals that can be found closer to the actual day of the unofficial holiday.

Is Amazon going to have Black Friday deals?
In addition to its pre-Black Friday Holiday Dash deals happening now, Amazon will indeed have Black Friday deals on the actual day. And shoppers should expect to see some Black Friday deals extended through the weekend and Cyber Monday deals throughout the new week.
When is Amazon Black Friday 2020?
Black Friday is an unofficial holiday recognized on the Friday after Thanksgiving, which is November 27 this year. While Amazon’s official Black Friday 2020 sale has not been announced as of yet, the online retailer has been running nonstop discounts since Prime Day ended in mid-October. And it seems likely that its sales will continue right through the end of Cyber Week, if not beyond.
When does Amazon’s Black Friday sale start?
You can shop Amazon’s Black Friday-like deals now during the retailer’s “Holiday Dash” sale, which started after Prime Day and will run until November 19. Last year Amazon started its Black Friday sales a full week ahead of the holiday. We expect that the retailer will follow suit this year and begin promoting Black Friday 2020 deals as soon as the Holiday Dash promotion officially ends. We’ll update this post with more info as we learn more.
What kind of items will be on sale at Amazon during Black Friday in 2020?
In 2019, noteworthy Amazon Black Friday deals included $100 off the then-recent model of Apple’s MacBook Air, $45 off the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite, $69 off the iRobot Roomba 675 and $80 off the Instant Pot Duo.
You can expect similar Black Friday deals on these types of items and brands, as well as a reheat of some of the discounts we saw during Prime Day. (Think Amazon devices, TVs, laptops, headphones and other tech items as well as deals on cookware, bedding and Amazon brands.)
Does Amazon do Cyber Monday?
Yes, Amazon typically does Cyber Monday. For the past few years Amazon has run a full week of deals celebrating the unofficial holiday, dubbed Cyber Deals Week. Sometimes early access is granted to Prime members or those with Alexa devices. Expect similar prices to what you’ll see on Black Friday, with limited-time lightning deals included each day to crank up some of the urgency for shoppers.
Is Amazon cheaper on Black Friday?
Typically, a number of Amazon Black Friday deals will rollover to Cyber Week, so we expect Amazon Black Friday and Cyber Monday prices to be very close, if not identical. (Not including limited-time lightning deals.)
Is Amazon Prime Day better than Black Friday?
Many of Amazon’s official Black Friday deals will be the same or nearly the same as Prime Day discounts, but Prime Day may be better than Black Friday overall for the sheer volume of items on sale. For example: Last year, the Kindle Paperwhite was $45 off during Black Friday and was also $45 off during Prime Day 2020. 23andMe’s Heath + Ancestry DNA Test was $100 off its original price of $199 during Black Friday last year, the same sale price we saw during Prime Day this year — the kit is currently at the same price from Prime Day and Black Friday last year at $99.
The Echo Show 8 was on sale for $30 less than its original price during Black Friday last year, but was on sale for $65, half of its original price during Prime Day 2020. This year, Apple AirPods with wired charging cases were on sale for $115 during Prime Day, $44 off their original price but were only $25 off during Black Friday last year. However, you may want to consider that these models are now slightly older in 2020 and therefore can be offered at a cheaper price.
Do you need an Amazon Prime membership to shop Black Friday deals?
Being an Amazon Prime member is not necessary to shop Amazon’s Black Friday deals, but historically Amazon has offered early access to certain deals to Prime members. While you can save on expedited shipping as a Prime member—ideal if you’re a last-minute shopper—you can still shop Black Friday deals on Amazon without having Prime membership.
