The Bengals ended a very bizarre curse of the Monday Night Football black cat

I honestly don’t know who figures these things out, but whoever found out that there was a Curse of the Monday Night Football Black Cat on NFL teams with cat nicknames, a serious tip of the cap to you.

(Actually we do know, it was a Reddit user! Good job!)

Here’s the stat: ever since a black cat invaded the Dallas Cowboys’ Monday Night Football tilt against the New York Giants on Nov. 4, NFL teams with cat nicknames (the Panthers, Lions, Jaguars and Bengals) were winless. I’d also point out the Cowboys are 1-3 since that game, but whatever, that’s a tangent.

But the curse has been lifted, thanks to the Bengals beating the Jets on Sunday:

Bizarre, and yet … a pretty amazing coincidence that lasted for all of a month.
