'The bench is glorious' - Crystal Palace fans react to what Roy Hodgson has done for Villa clash

Crystal Palace fans are relishing the prospect of facing Aston Villa at Selhurst Park this afternoon, after the team news was confirmed.

Roy Hodgson has named the same starting XI that took to the field at Old Trafford last weekend, as Palace claimed a first win against Manchester United in the Premier League era, thanks to an injury time strike from Patrick van Aanholt.

He is back in the side after not playing in midweek against Colchester United in the Carabao Cup, with Hodgson making ten changes to the side that started against the League Two side.

Only Martin Kelly keeps his place from the midweek cup clash, with Jordan Ayew and Wilfried Zaha restored to the starting line-up, having come off the bench against the U’s.

That means Christian Benteke and Andros Townsend have to settle for places on the bench, alongside Max Meyer, summer signings James McCarthy and Victor Camarasa, goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey and defender Mamadou Sakho, who features in a matchday squad for the first time this season following a long-term absence with a knee injury.

And Palace fans are liking the look of the squad and looking forward to the game as Palace go in search of their first home win of the season.

Here’s what some Palace fans have been saying on social networking website Twitter this afternoon ahead of the game, which kicks off at 3pm.
