The Beckham family may be split across two continents and multiple cities, but historically they’ve been considered as close as a celebrity brood can get.
But no family is without its fights. A few months ago, fissures began to appear in the Beckhams’ perfect facade.
Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz-Beckham have missed multiple family events and seemingly avoided the rest of the clan — even when they visited London recently. It has led fans to dissect the family’s many Instagram posts for signs of a fallout.
And the Beckhams seemingly haven’t shied away from fuelling the rumours online. In his latest post Cruz wrote: “It takes 43 muscles in your face to frown, and 17 to smile.”
Yet, the family already know how this goes: they’ve seen it all before. In 2022, the Beckhams were plagued by rumours of a feud between Victoria Beckham and Nicola Peltz. This was driven by the revelation that Peltz had not worn a Victoria Beckham wedding dress, despite having three wedding outfits for the big day.
The feud chatter surrounded them for months, with many eagle-eyed netizens pointing out that Posh and Peltz were barely ever pictured together, and Brooklyn was often skipping out on family events.
And now, there’s fresh speculation about a fallout at the wedding, with rumours circling that Victoria had Nicola “in tears” on the day over behaviour surrounding plans for the first dance.
According to a source who spoke to People Magazine, it went something like this: "Marc Anthony, who is a friend of the Beckhams, offered to perform as a gift at the wedding.”
"Before the song began, Marc Anthony asked Brooklyn to come to the stage, and then announced, 'The most beautiful woman in the room tonight, come on up... Victoria Beckham!'"
The insider claimed: "Nicola felt like Victoria did this on purpose, when she knew it was a pre-planned romantic dance meant for Brooklyn and Nicola. What she couldn't understand was why."
However, others shared a different version of events, claiming Marc Anthony called Victoria up to dance with Brooklyn and David to dance with their daughter Harper.
The source added to The Sun that Brooklyn and Nicola’s first dance happened after the speeches and reception dinner. "After this, Nicola had a dance with her father Nelson, which is normally when the groom would dance with his mum, but for whatever reason that didn’t happen.
"Much later, as a gift to the couple, Marc Anthony performed a few songs and everyone got up to dance,” they added.
"As part of this he pulled his best friends David and Victoria up on stage with him and then grabbed Brooklyn to dance with his mum and Harper danced with David, Cruz also got up with Eva Longoria as I recall. It was a fun family moment and one dance.” The Standard has contacted representatives for Nicola and Victoria for comment.
Whatever happened the first time around, it’s clear all is not well between the family now. The 2025 Beckham feud became obvious when fans realised that Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz had not been pictured at any family events since 2024.
Indeed, the happy couple even missed the family’s festive celebrations. Though, at this point, things appeared to be more civil. In the caption of David Beckham carving a turkey on Christmas Day, he wrote: “Traditional cutting of the turkey that mums been cooking all day !!👩🍳 love you all so so much Happy Christmas , good job @victoriabeckham @romeobeckham @cruzbeckham #HarperSeven we miss you @brooklynpeltzbeckham @nicolaannepeltzbeckham 🎅🏼.”
Nicola Peltz replied: “We love you all so much.”
But over the past few months, these cracks have started to deepen, with Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz undeniably absent from numerous family events.
First came David Beckham’s pre-birthday celebrations in Florida with Lionel Messi and Tom Brady back in April. Then came Victoria Beckham’s low-key 51st birthday celebrations on the family yacht that same month. And finally, David Beckham hosted his big blowout 50th birthday party in Kensington — one of three total birthday parties hosted in the same weekend. Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz were not present for any of the above.
This struck fans of the family as particularly strange, considering that Brooklyn and Nicola appeared to have flown over to London specifically for the event, with sources telling TMZ that they skipped the Met Gala just to be with David on his big day.
According to TMZ, Brooklyn Beckham missed the celebrations due to the ongoing feud between him and brother Romeo, allegedly due to Romeo dating Brooklyn’s former friend, Kim Turnbull. TMZ claimed that Brooklyn is concerned about Turnbull’s “intentions” with Romeo.
On the night of David Beckham’s birthday party, it has been reported that Brooklyn and Nicola requested a private audience with David and Victoria away from Romeo and Kim Turnbull, which David and Victoria denied, forcing the couple to fly back to Los Angeles.
But now the story is turning on its head, with the gaze switching from Romeo Beckham and Kim Turnbull to Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz.
According to a source who spoke to the Mail: “This is nothing to do with Kim and is all about Nicola. All David and Victoria want is their son back — and they will be there to welcome him any time.”
Sources also claimed that Nicola Peltz has a pattern of “starting an argument” before family events and then preventing her husband from attending. “It seems Nicola doesn't like Brooklyn spending any time with the Beckhams full stop and is using his previous closeness to Kim and her getting in with the family as a reason to not be around them,” another source claims. “She denies it, but Nicola has been controlling him since the wedding. The family - including the brothers - have had enough of it.”
As we know, this isn’t the first time the Beckham family has feuded, nor is it the first time Brooklyn and Nicola have been at the centre.
The first rumours of trouble in paradise for the Beckham brood started in 2022, following Brooklyn and Nicola’s multi-million dollar wedding.
The event saw Nicola wear three total wedding gowns, from Valentino, Dior and Versace... but nothing created by esteemed fashion designer, Victoria Beckham. This allegedly bristled Victoria, who expected Nicola to wear one of her creations.
Nicola later addressed the dress situation in an interview with The Sunday Times, claiming that Victoria’s team did make her a dress, but couldn’t finish it in time for the wedding. “It's not a feud,” she said. “I keep seeing everywhere that word, 'feud, feud, feud!?' I mean, maybe they picked up on something? And now they're labelling it feud?
“I think it all started, and I've said this before, because I didn't end up wearing Victoria's wedding dress, but the real truth is, I really, really wanted to wear it and I thought it was so beautiful that Brooklyn's mom got to make that for me!...
“And I was really excited to wear it! And I didn't end up wearing it. But I, truthfully, was really excited to wear her dress. It makes me sad when I read things that people say I was never planning on wearing it. That's just not true.”
In another interview with Variety, Peltz added: “I was going to and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realised that her atelier couldn't do it, so then I had to pick another dress.”
But there are mixed reports from the period, with some insiders claiming that Peltz “never” intended to wear a gown by her mother-in-law, and others reporting that Victoria Beckham pulled out of making the gown at the “last minute”.
There was allegedly drama on the wedding day, too. According to insiders who spoke to the Mail, Nicola became upset when Marc Anthony, a friend of Victoria’s, gave a gushing speech at the wedding... all about Victoria.
“It was totally just an ode to Victoria and how awesome she is. Nicola loves to be the center of attention, especially on her wedding day. So this really, really p***ed [Nicola] off,” the insider said. “She stormed off in the middle of her wedding reception with [sister] Brittany and her mom, and was crying her eyes out.”
In the months following, Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz were barely seen with the family, further spurring on rumours of a rift between the two factions.
In 2023 and 2024, Victoria and Nicola appeared to become closer over time, eventually appearing together in photos again and posting gushing comments on each other’s Instagrams, helping to dispel the rumours... until now, when it’s all started up again.
But maybe it’s not as simple as Nicola Peltz v The Beckhams. One source told the Mirror that Nicola is actually the peacekeeper of the family, claiming: "Nicola encourages Brooklyn to see his family and is usually the reason Brooklyn does see his family. They are both devastated. They cannot believe that Victoria and David refused to see them privately after they travelled all the way to London specifically to try to repair the relationship.”
They added: “As parents, it’s shocking that Victoria and David are behaving this way... instead of privately discussing the issue. Victoria and David [appear to] have no interest in finding a solution that works for everyone.”
Similarly, an insider told The Sun: “Brooklyn is really upset that blame for the rift has been levelled at Nicola.”
The jury’s out on this one, but here’s hoping all will be well on the Beckham front soon enough.
