The beautiful Rapunzel-style fairy tale castle you can stay in - just a short drive from Liverpool

Life is no fairy tale but if you spend the night in Brynkir Tower it sure might feel like it.

The gothic tower, in the heart of Snowdonia, dates back to 1821 and is now available to book a holiday through Sykes Holiday Cottages.

Grade II listed Brynkir Tower was originally built by Sir Joseph Huddart, a British engineer and inventor, to honour his knighthood at the time of the coronation of George IV.

Over the decades it was left abandoned and fell into disrepair, however it has now been fully restored.

The property has a characteristic spiral staircase that leads to each floor which contains a single room with its own individual style.

It’s also packed with unique features, including an arched gothic doorway and traditional windows throughout.

Richard Williams, who now owns Brynkir Tower after purchasing it in the 1990s, said: "When we bought the tower, it had no roof, windows or floors and needed a complete transformation.

"We worked really hard to create something we knew our guests would love, and the fact people get to experience living in such a magical property is exciting in itself.

"The tower is perfect for couples looking for a romantic break with a difference as well as families with children, as for them it feels like they’re staying in something from a fairytale."

Brynkir Tower is pet-friendly too, so guests won’t have to leave any members of the family behind.

For adventure seekers, the tower overlooks the beautiful mountains of Cwm Pennant and the surrounding countryside - so there is plenty to explore.

Picturesque villages, such as Beddgelert and seaside towns like Criccieth are also close by.
