The beautiful natural 'Blue Pool' in Gower which people are still jumping in and getting injured

A beautiful natural Gower pool popular with people looking for the perfect Instagram picture is causing concern again that someone could be badly hurt there.

Blue Pool is located between rocks on a cliff edge near Broughton Bay. The pool is 3ft deep (waist high) and changes with every tide.

It is seen by many as a great place to cool down on a hot summer's day, but coastguards are urging people to be cautious when using it.

At the weekend, Rhossili Coastguard issued a warning on Facebook after it was tasked to a person with a suspected broken ankle after jumping into Blue Pool.

It said the casualty was transported to their vehicle, and a family member then took the casualty to hospital.

At the same time, it asked people to note that it was not safe to jump into the pool as it was very shallow. The dangers include water shock, objects that might be under the water like rocks, and the shallowness of the pool.

In 2019, Rhossili Coastguard issued a warning that the pool was three quarters filled with sand, and only three to four feet deep. It stressed the dangers of diving into the pool, and how people would hit the bottom if they attempted it.

A spokesperson for Rhossili Coastguard said: "We don't condone people jumping off rocks into the water as it's very dangerous. Water levels should be checked beforehand and we advise people to please not jump off rocks into the water."

One person commenting on the Facebook post said: "We’ve been saying for the past 2 seasons that there is loads more sand than usual in Blue Pool. Jumping off the Top Rock is pretty dangerous atm."
