The beautiful moment Alun Wyn Jones changed everything for this terrified mascot and melted hearts at the Rugby World Cup

They say never meet your heroes.

But the mascot in Wales' epic win over Australia would absolutely disagree.

Other than his teammates, most people who come into contact with Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones on the rugby pitch feel one emotion: fear.

However, a charming video shows one of the mascots at Sunday's game going through every emotion under the sun as he met the titan of Welsh rugby, who became Wales most-capped player at the weekend.

When he first sees Alun Wyn approaching he looks like he has seen ghost

When he gets closer the panic starts to set in...

He is not sure how to react when the Wales forward gives him a pat on the head...

He then realises that this moment is, in fact, awesome!

He then starts smiling...

And can't stop until the game starts!

The special moment has received a huge reaction from the public since being shared by the official Rugby World Cup social media accounts, with many fans praising Jones' kind nature.

It's not the first time Jones has shown his softer side ahead of a match. During the Six Nations he sang the anthem without his training top on after giving it to the shivering mascot ahead of the rain-hit Ireland game.
