The beautiful country home for sale for almost half the price of a Cardiff terraced house

Buying a country home set among some stunning Welsh scenery sounds like it might be a bit of a pricey pipedream.

But when you consider that this large house in Laugharne is going for almost half the price of a terrace house in Cardiff, it doesn't seem too bad after all.

And the grand, imposing property is found in an elevated position surrounded by mature trees and beautiful Welsh countryside, while also being near a number of sandy beaches.

The area has even been used for filming hit TV show Keeping Faith, which was praised for its gorgeous on-location filming.

This four-bed Georgian property - which has flats to one side of the building - is on the market with John Francis and will set you back £400,000.

In comparison, a five-bedroom mid-terrace property on Kyveilog Street, in the Pontcanna area of Cardiff, was recently listed on a property website for £755,000.

Alternatively, you can pick-up a three-bedroom penthouse in Cardiff Marina, which, at £715,000, would cost over £300,000 more than the country home.

Or you could buy this three-bedroom duplex apartment on Bute Terrace, for £750,000 - an extra £350,000 than the Laugharne property.

As well as the large bedrooms, the Carmarthenshire home has three reception rooms and plenty of space for parking.

Entering the large building through a wooden door, you're greeted with a tiled floor, before heading into the main hallway with its ornate, coved ceiling and Georgian-style archway.

Stairs to the first floor are found here with doors off to the reception rooms.

Other impressive features in the property include marble fireplaces, wood-burners and a dry cellar.

It's labelled a semi-detached property, due to the fact that flats are attached to the side of the building, although they are not a part of the main property's sale.

According to the estate agent the building has "a lot of character," while the on the website, John Francis explains: "This property is an ideal home for a growing family or equally versatile as a guest house or B&B."

Visit the John Francis website for more details on the property.
