The Beatles: Get Back release date, episode guide and more on the Disney Plus documentary

This may not be one for the fainthearted but any diehard Beatles fans out there must be licking their lips at the thought of diving into a six-hour documentary on the Fab Four.

Mercifully cut down into three episodes lasting around two hours each, this won’t take up too much of your time if you want to spread it out over a number of days.

Directed by the inimitable Peter Jackson of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films fame you know you’re in good hands here and with a director who treats his work with care.

Here’s how you can watch the much-anticipated documentary and when it’ll be released on Disney Plus .

When is The Beatles: Get Back released?

The Beatles: Get Back will be released over three days at the end of November – starting on the 25th with the final episode released on the 27th. This is clearly planned to coincide with Thanksgiving in the US, with the makers clearly seeing father and son sitting down to watch this six-hour marathon over a few beers and most likely lots of turkey.

“As a huge Beatles fan myself, I am absolutely thrilled that Disney+ will be the home for this extraordinary documentary series by the legendary filmmaker Peter Jackson,” Bob Iger, executive chairman and chairman of the board of The Walt Disney Company said.

How many episodes will there be?

The documentary will consist of three episodes all around two hours long and composed from around 60 hours of unseen footage – and more than 150 hours of unheard audio that the band recorded – filmed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg. The documentary will focus on the lead up to the band’s penultimate album Let It Be as well as including their famous performance on a Savile Row rooftop in its entirety.

Speaking about the documentary, Peter Jackson said: “It is the story of human frailties and of a divine partnership. It is a detailed account of the creative process, with the crafting of iconic songs under pressure”.

He added: “Over six hours, you’ll get to know The Beatles with an intimacy that you never thought possible.”

Disney Plus subscription costs £7.99 per month, or you can buy an annual subscription which is £79.90 a year.
