The Chicago Bears are known for having great defenses and mediocre offenses that can never quite live up to their counterparts.
The same can be said for the 2019 Bears, whose defense has been dominating while the offense struggles to find an identity. But the Bears defense has always managed to get the best of the offense, whether that’s in the headlines or in practice.
That was most evident back in training camp, where the defense frequently challenged and frustrated the offense.
But for once, the Bears offense came out on top against the defense. Although it wasn’t in football.
As Matt Nagy often does, he likes to infuse some fun after practices, which he did this week when he held an egg toss that pitted the offense against the defense.
Linebackers Danny Trevathan and Isaiah Irving represented the defense while quarterback Chase Daniel and right tackle Bobby Massie represented the offense.
The duo of Daniel-Massie ultimately defeated Trevathan-Irving, which sparked an excitement from the offense which hopefully carries into Sunday’s game against the Saints.
This isn’t the first time that Nagy has let his players have some fun at the end of practice, but it didn’t go over well with some fans.
The Bears have a winning record after five games, but it’s not an encouraging 3-2. Fans are clearly agitated over the offense’s inability to put an effective product on the field.
The only way to silence the criticism is to go out there and perform during games, which won’t exactly be easy against the Saints’ defense on Sunday.
