The BBC tells Katie Hopkins 'If we weren't a polite BBC account we'd tell you to shut your face'

The BBC has shut down Katie Hopkins in the most well-mannered yet quick-witted way imaginable.

The high-profile columnist criticised The Voice after news emerged that last year’s winner, Stevie McCrorie, had returned to his day job as a fireman after his music career didn’t go to plan.

“Last year's winner of The Voice just went back to the day job. Not wishing to put a dampener on proceedings #TheVoice,” the 41-year-old former Apprentice star wrote on Twitter.

But the official BBC account for The Voice hit back with a rejoinder.

The tweet has since been deleted and Hopkins has continued to vent her frustrations about the show.

“Ok, next contestant on #TheVoice. Your challenge is to pretend to cry more than the others,” she continued added.

Hopkins’ Twitter feed has frequently dominated headlines and prompted a backlash on social media.

In the aftermath of the Brussels attacks, she stirred controversy for suggesting pro-refugee policies were to blame for the terrorist attacks.

The Independent has approached the BBC for comment.
